Overview:
ProxyLink is on the lookout for an astute and seasoned finance professional to take on the pivotal role of Associate Director of Finance. This role, reporting directly to the Senior Director of Finance and demands a sophisticated understanding of financial stewardship and strategic leadership. The successful candidate will be instrumental in guiding our finance department, ensuring stringent compliance with legal and regulatory frameworks, and collaborating with senior management to fortify the organization’s financial objectives. This role is integral to our mission of driving operational excellence and strategic financial planning, thereby safeguarding the organization's long-term success.

Responsibilities:
Financial Stewardship: Oversee and coordinate all financial activities, including comprehensive reporting, incisive analysis, meticulous budgeting, accurate forecasting, and unwavering compliance.
Strategic Budgeting: Partner with the Senior Director to craft budgets for all operational facets of the organization; manage project budgets, forecasts, and develop robust long-term financial strategies.
Strategic Counsel: Offer strategic financial insights and recommendations to senior management, regularly updating on the organization’s progress in meeting its strategic and operational objectives.
Financial Reporting: Supervise the preparation and analysis of financial statements, ensuring both precision and adherence to regulatory standards.
Performance Evaluation: Collect and scrutinize financial performance data, analyze variances, and support decision-making through detailed insights.
Project Reporting: Generate detailed reports and evaluations for individual projects, ensuring clarity and strategic alignment.
Regulatory Adherence: Ensure compliance with accounting standards, laws, and regulations, while establishing and enforcing stringent financial reporting rules.
Process Enhancement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency, developing pertinent accounting policies and procedures for financial operations, budgeting, and forecasting.
Initiative Leadership: Lead initiatives aimed at streamlining financial processes and strengthening internal controls.
Strategic Execution: Aid in the development and execution of strategic plan activities, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
Risk Mitigation: Assess and manage financial risks, implementing effective mitigation strategies.
Interdepartmental Liaison: Act as a crucial link between finance and other departments, communicating financial information effectively to non-financial stakeholders.
Team Leadership: Provide leadership, direction, and supervision to the finance team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
Professional Development: Encourage professional growth and development among team members, participating in succession planning and mentorship initiatives.
Policy Management: Oversee national membership services, act as a liaison with external partners, and manage financial administration and compliance policies.
Council Reporting: Prepare reports for and attend National Council and Executive meetings, ensuring informed decision-making.
Audit Oversight: Manage and direct external audits, ensuring effective resolution of audit activities.
Continuous Learning: Maintain a comprehensive understanding of organizational policies, by-laws, and collective agreements.
Additional Duties: Undertake any other responsibilities as assigned within the role’s scope.

Qualifications:
Educational Foundation: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) or Finance is preferred.
Professional Certification: Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), or equivalent certification is required.
Experience: 8-10 years of progressive experience in finance or accounting, with a minimum of 5 years in a managerial role.
Competency: Demonstrated expertise in strategic financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, risk management, and compliance in a complex organizational context.
Knowledge Base: Deep understanding of accounting principles, financial regulations, internal controls, and compliance requirements.
Leadership Acumen: Superior leadership, communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Change Management: Proven ability to drive organizational change, foster innovation, and implement best practices in financial management.
Talent Development: Experience in mentoring and developing finance professionals.
Preferred Experience: Experience in a unionized environment or a large national nonprofit organization is advantageous.

Mobility: Willingness to travel as required.
